We Made California History!

January 5th, 2012

The closing days of 2011 were powered by an unprecedented burst of grassroots fundraising energy for my campaign.

In response to my final email plea, 120 of you took me over the top of my $500,000 goal. In total, this campaign has now raised $520,122 from 1,638 individual donors giving 2,401 contributions. That’s an extraordinary show of support.

Never before has a first-time Assembly candidate raised this kind of money so far out from the primary. I’ve raised 13 times as many online contributions and 7 times the total dollars as my nearest competitor. And the average donation online to my campaign is 50% smaller, showing that grassroots strength will power this campaign to vicTorie in 2012.

Behind these facts are my hundreds of loyal donors, from $5-a-month retirees living on Social Security to “max outs” from my business owner and philanthropist friends. Our average donation is $216.71, showing true generosity on the part of so many. Every few days I get an email or a letter from a supporter about how excited you are about this race.

This picture is from yesterday’s phone bank at my house, signing up volunteers to help us begin the voter outreach phase of this campaign. Yes, we have already dived into the next phase — when we begin real voter contact! If you are interested in volunteering, just head to my “Get Involved” page to sign up.

But for now, we savor the sweet flavor of success. You made it happen, and you make me feel incredibly lucky. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
