Citizen-Led and Grassroots Energized Campaign Empowers Volunteers to Identify and Outreach to Facebook Friends who are Voters in the New 50th Assembly District

SANTA MONICA, CA— The Torie Osborn for Assembly campaign today unveiled a groundbreaking and sophisticated new online social organizing tool that empowers volunteers to reach out their Facebook friends, identify those who live in the new 50th Assembly District, and reach out to them.

The system, titled ‘Facebook for Torie’, uses an interface that identifies which of a person’s Facebook friends lives and is registered to vote in the 50th Assembly District and then sends volunteers through to a call bank interface. Volunteers from both inside and outside the district can use the system to find friends in the district, and call them to promote and discuss Torie’s message. Help me clean up the baby bottle mess

April 20th, 2012

When I announced my candidacy for the 50th Assembly District, I said I wanted to clean up Sacramento’s mess, and I needed your help. Little did I suspect we’d have to start so soon.

Just in time for Earth Day, one of my opponent’s campaign is littering front doors across the district with low-grade plastic baby bottles. I’m not sure why my opponent thought voters in the most environmentally conscious district in California would want to get spammed with unwanted plastic, but I’m ready to lead the recycling drive.

This Monday, I will personally recycle all the bottles given to me and my team by voters, taking them to the Santa Monica Community Recycling Center. Read more…

Will you make a call?

April 12th, 2012

From Sheila Kuehl, Former State Senator

For better or for worse….campaigns have really changed.

I ran — and won — state office in California five times in the last 20 years, when we had to do things without social media! Back in the day, as they say, high tech online tools were really difficult to use and excessively expensive.

Luckily for all of us supporting Torie and her campaign, that’s all changed! Starting today, you can help us call voters in the district without even leaving your home. And with just 54 days until the primary, we need all hands on deck making these calls!

Will you sign up to help staff the phones either at your home, or at the campaign office? It only takes a minute!

Raising money gets us pretty far in the campaign, but telling our stories to the voters gets us over the finish line. Read more…
