SANTA MONICA, CA- Giving Torie Osborn’s campaign another major boost, today the Teamsters Joint Council 42 joined her campaign’s growing list of supporters in her bid to fill California’s new vacant 50th Assembly seat. Earlier this week Osborn won the endorsement of the California Federation of Teachers.
“We are fed up with politics as usual in Sacramento. It’s time for bold changes in the Capitol, and that’s why we’re strongly supporting Torie Osborn for Assembly,” said Randy Cammack, President of Teamsters Joint Council 42. “This is a race that we are particularly excited about, because we’ve got a candidate who will bring a fresh approach, and new ideas for Sacramento’s tired, old ways. Her experience, matched with her ability to bring people together to solve tough problems is exactly the kind of new leadership we need in the legislature.”
“Torie Osborn is not your everyday candidate. She’s got the vision, the passion, and the proven experience of working on important public policy issues that are necessary to develop and implement real reforms in Sacramento,” said Ron Herrera, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 396. “We know that we can trust her to help fix our state, and that’s why we are pleased to join her campaign.”
“This endorsement means a great deal to me,” said Osborn. “I am proud to have the support of the Teamsters Joint Council 42, and I plan on working closely with them during this campaign, and once I get to Sacramento. We share a deep dedication to getting this state’s economy moving again by investing in important infrastructure projects that will create more good paying jobs.”
Teamsters Joint Council 42 is the parent body to 22 Teamster Local Unions located and representing members in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Guam, Saipan, and Hawaii. Some 200,000 working Teamsters and retirees are affiliated with the JC 42 family.
Just last week Osborn announced the support of over 75 respected women across many important women’s issues, and the previous week she released a list of over 500 grassroots activists and supporters backing her campaign.
Osborn has also been endorsed by the California Federation of Teachers, California Nurses Association, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 18, in addition to several other high profile leaders.
